Set amid the violence and corruption of post-World War II Los Angeles, L.A. Noire is a crime thriller that seamlessly blends crime-solving, clue-finding, car chases and shoot-outs with revolutionary new interrogation-based gameplay that will allow players to read characters' emotions in order to reveal the truth. Players will take on the role of Cole Phelps, a decorated war veteran, who rises through the ranks of the LAPD by solving a series of gruesome murders and other crimes that bring him face-to-face with the dark heart of Los Angeles during Hollywood's Golden Age.

Rockstar Games has always put a focus on creating interesting settings. Whether it's the lonely prairie in Red Dead Redemption or the realistic-looking streets of Liberty City in GTA IV, Rockstar turns that setting into a character itself. L.A. Noire is no different. This time around, Los Angeles in 1947 is the setting and developer Team Bondi is determined to deliver a believable experience.

IGN spoke with Brendan McNamara, Head of Team Bondi, about what it took to faithfully recreate L.A. in the '40s. It was an era of violent crimes, corrupt cops, and the rise of the mob in the City of Angeles.
